In terms of prevention, the Tangerang City Health Service (Dinkes) stressed that the use of fog to eliminate the Aedes Aegypti mosquito is not a complete last resort or the main solution.

According to Dr. Dini, requests for smoke often arise when there are cases of dengue fever. However, without other measures such as preventing environmental sanitation, smoke will only kill adult mosquitoes without affecting mosquito larvae and eggs.

Smoke can actually help kill adult Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes, but the effect is only temporary and is not effective in completely eradicating dengue fever. In fact, smoke can affect health.

“It could be said that smoke only creates a false sense of security among the public and distracts from dengue prevention measures. Actually, 3M Plus and PHBS are more effective. “Smoke is just a way to calm the public at the expense of other health,” said Dr. Early.

Here are effective ways to get rid of dengue fever:

1. 3M Plus

Drain bathtubs, towers and other water sources at least once a week. Very close water sources such as bathtubs, towers and drums.

Bury used items that collect rainwater such as cans, used tires and plastic bottles.

In addition, put a stop or larvicide in water sources, keep fish that eat larvae, plant plants that protect against mosquitoes and clean the environment regularly.

2. Jumantik

Apply 3M Plus regularly at least once a week, preferably every day. Do not forget to include all members of the family and the community in activities to eliminate mosquito nests. That is, by implementing the same house, one larval monitoring program.

3. Use of mosquito repellants

Use a safe and effective mosquito repellent. Use mosquito repellent according to the instructions for use. Also use mosquito repellent. The best known larval killer is temephos.
