This Saturday, a series of traffic accidents were reported involving five motorcyclists, resulting in the death of four people and three more with injuries to different parts of the body.
Rescuers from the Rescue Commands of El Salvador went to kilometer 112 of the Pan-American Highway to help two men who were riding a motorcycle and collided head-on with each other, near the detour to Chinameca, department of San Miguel.
The men identified as Wilbert Efraín Salamanca Mejía, 25 years old, and Edelin Osmadi Mejía García, 31. Both were stabilized at the scene of the accident and then taken to the Nueva Guadalupe National Hospital, where Salamanca Mejía died.
Lifeguards and traffic agents from the National Civil Police (PNC) said that the crash occurred due to excessive traffic. The accident caused heavy congestion in the area.
This same day, two lifeguards died in front of the El Jabalí Autodrome, department of La Libertad. Another died in a crash reported at kilometer 86 of the Pan-American highway, in Estanzuelas, department of Usulután.
Another motorcyclist was injured after colliding with a vehicle at kilometer 35 of the El Litoral highway. Both means of transport caught fire and the drivers were taken to a healthcare center in the area.
