/ world today news/ The Chinese technology giant Huawei opened a center for innovation and development in the Serbian capital on Monday in the presence of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, who sees in this fact a huge contribution to the digital transformation of the country’s economy.
During the opening in Belgrade, Burnabych toured the new center, accompanied by China’s ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo and Li Mengkun, Huawei’s president for the Western Balkans.
Burnabic said the center will help Serbia further accelerate its digital transformation, which is among the key priorities of its government, and will stimulate innovation and creativity in the Serbian economy.
“Big international companies play a huge role in the digital transformation of our economy, together with our education system and local innovative and start-up companies. Such partners are key for us and one of the best and biggest of them for sure are the Chinese, the Huawei company,” she said.
According to Burnabic, Serbia’s cooperation with Huawei is limited to 5G networks only. She emphasized the three main aspects of cooperation
introduction of artificial intelligence, digitization of education and introduction of technology for smart cities in Serbia.
Another breakthrough
In their speeches, Burnabych and Chen indicated that the new center is another breakthrough in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
“The digital industry in China plays an important role in economic development. And now Serbia is in the process of developing digitalization,” the ambassador said.
“Chinese companies are ready to share their technologies and experience with Serbian partners. I am sure that such cooperation will be beneficial for both countries.”
Noting that Huawei has been in the country for 15 years, Li said the new development center has five main propositions – talent cultivation, ecosystem, smart solutions, localization and flexible innovation.
“We call this the ‘Tesla’ proposal, named after (Nikola Tesla), one of the greatest inventors and physicists born and raised right here in the Balkans. Huawei has high hopes for the role the center will play in digital transformation,” said Li.
“Together we can make Serbia a world leader in the digital age with ubiquitous connectivity, digital platforms and pervasive intelligence.”
