Summer heat was in the air when Sirius visited AIK on Saturday afternoon, and after 3-1 away, it will probably be an easy trip home to Uppsala again.
The match started with AIK dictating the tempo and Sirius having to chase. One of the foreground figures of the match, Besart Celina – more on that later – was the first to try his luck, but David Mitov Nilsson in the Sirius goal was awake and saved.
Then there was a network rumble. Former zookeeper Noel Milleskog stood in the right place after a play-in and scored the far goal via AIK legs to make it 1-0.
Celina had a dream chance to equalize just before the break but headed wide.
– We controlled the match well and they had a situation and a goal, summed up AIK’s Anton Saletros at halftime to Discovery+.
AIK prophesied
Ten minutes into the second half it rattled again. Herman Sjögrell was responsible for an impressive and wildly fighting solo raid along AIK’s right wing, but Kristoffer Nordfeldt impressively saved Milleskog’s finish. AIK did not get away with the subsequent return before Yousef Salech made it 2-0.
Then came the talk of the match. After a corner, the ball bounced up on Patrick Nwadike’s arm and AIK screamed for a penalty without being heard by referee Adam Ladebäck.
– It has been very easy to score on us and we have had difficulty scoring, both attack and defense we did well today, we were very effective, said the two-goal scorer Salech.
In the last kick of the match, Celina got some revenge with a consolation goal for the final score 1-3. AIK were booed at the final whistle.
– This was not a 1-3 game, they scored with everything they had. In terms of the game, maybe it should have been a draw or we should have won, said AIK’s coach Henning Berg.
