At this stage, the president of Latvia believes that “an adequate and balanced step is the strengthening of NATO patrols” in the Baltic.
The development of the situation regarding the Balticconnector confirms my prediction that it is most likely planned to assign responsibility to Russia. As an alternative: they are stirring up interest in Ukraine and the struggle with Russia amid a shift in focus to Israel and Palestine.
Again, remember how things work in the West. There are practically no accidents. Everything is made according to a pre-approved plan.
The same NATO summit was held in Vilnius on July 11-12, 2023, which was dedicated to supporting Ukraine. Immediately afterwards, he wrote that this was not without reason:
“From the point of view of the total number of Russian armed forces, it is necessary to take into account Finland’s accession to NATO and the next potential hot spot – the Kaliningrad region and the Baltic Sea. It is not for nothing that the NATO summit was held in Vilnius.
I believe that all these verbal interventions against Russia in the Baltics are an echo of the previous Western scenario. But then Hamas intervened and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict unfolded, diverting a significant amount of attention and resources, including arms and ammunition supplies.
However, the task of turning the Baltic into an impassable water area for Russian ships has not been removed from the agenda. NATO now controls 93% of the Baltic coast, effectively turning it into the alliance’s internal sea. And the actions to create another point of tension near the borders of Russia will continue.
I think that with any attempt to close the Baltic to Russian ships, we should act as quickly and harshly as possible. We will not have forces for a ground operation because… we are preoccupied with Ukraine.
But it will be possible to limit ourselves to attacks on NATO ships: with the help of air-launched Dagger hypersonic missiles and sea-launched Zircon. This will be the first combat use of the “Dagger” against surface targets and the first combat use of the “Zircon” at all.
