They hold ‘Aca Bowl 2024’, flag football grid in Gro

Acapulco, Gro. Multiple flag football grid took place this weekend on the fields known as Pumas Diamante.

The third edition of the Aca Bowl 2024 national championship concluded on Sunday, with the super Sunday of the ball festival in Acapulco, organized by the Football Flag Mexico group.

The space of three pasted soccer fields was transformed into six natural fields for flag football, with numerous properties in the Diamante area of ​​Acapulco as a background, which still show the devastation caused by Hurricane Otis, a little over six months ago.

While players from different categories develop aerial and terrestrial strategies and plays, according to the game plan of each team, in which the players wear ribbons on their waists, and as a setting, condominiums in the Diamond area, semi-destroyed, in the stage of reconstruction, to use language related to American football.

For most of Sunday morning, the weather was hot and haze caused by forest fires prevailed in much of the Diamante area.

Teams from all over the Mexican Republic, with uniforms and their own identity, from more than 20 states, played an arduous schedule of matches, from Thursday to Sunday, in various categories.

Organizers reported that 368 teams from 22 states participated in the fair in different categories from children to free age, with the attendance of more than 3,500 people, generating an occupancy of around 1,500 rooms.

Players from Mexico City, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Querétaro, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Tabasco, Morelos, Nuevo León, Baja California, Jalisco, among others, took part in the competition.

The president of the Football Flag México organization, Samuel Sahade, highlighted his commitment to Acapulco, expressing that “this tournament and everything we do is for you and for you; people are very happy and we are sure that this will help us to bring more higher level teams, not only from Mexico, but also international ones.

Some of the participating clubs were Chinelos, Wildcats, Cobras, Jaguares, Piranhas, Titanes, Cuervos, Dragones, among others.

The Guerrero Tourism Secretariat reported that on Sunday, Acapulco averaged 76.4 percent hotel occupancy at a general level, with 9,148 rooms available after the hurricane.

Otis, which represents about 50 percent of the installed capacity until before Otis. By sectors, the Diamond zone averaged 64.7 percent; the Golden zone 88.7 percent; and the Traditional or Nautical zone 67.4 percent.
