The carrier is looking for first officers without a type certificate, for Airbus A220 and Airbus A320 aircraft.
Smartwings has launched the recruitment of pilots for the new aircraft of Czech Airlines (ČSA). This follows from the job advertisements published by the carrier on its website in the section Career.
There is a request for first officers without a type rating for the Airbus A220 aircraft. In addition, in addition to the pilots for Boeing 737s, the airline is also looking for first officers, also without a type certificate, for the Airbus A320 aircraft. It is therefore a question of whether the ČSA fleet will not be expanded to include additional Airbus A320s in addition to Airbus A220s.
As Smartwings Group spokesperson Vladimíra Dufková said a month ago when asked by Zdopravy.cz, the first of the four Airbus A220s should be delivered to ČSA in October. The second one is to follow before the end of this year, and two more in the first half of 2025. They will all be in the colors of the ČSA.
According to the details of the job offers, the company plans to start the first officers without qualifications on the Airbus A220 between August and March. The contract of the first qualified officers is then to start in the winter season 2024-2025. In the same period, the contracts of the first officers without a type certificate on the Airbus A320 are about to start paying.
According to the attached information, all accepted pilots will be based in Prague. They are expected to be used on both short-haul flights and interregional connections. It is possible to participate in so-called ACMI contracts, ie situations where the company leases its aircraft and crew to another carrier.
ČSA currently operates a fleet of two leased Airbus A320-200s, registrations OK-HEU and OK-IOO. The latter returned a few days ago from Canada, where it was leased to Air Transat.
The network of destinations to which ČSA currently flies consists of Paris and Madrid. They fly to Paris twice a day, there are several flights a week to Madrid operated by Boeing Smartwings.
