Tottenham Hotspur – Liverpool

The PGMOL, the body responsible for refereeing in the Premier, recognized this Saturday a “significant human error” by disallowing a goal by Luis Diaz that should have gone up on the scoreboard when they were still 0-0 in London, against a Tottenham team that ended up winning 2- 1.
In the 34th minute, a goal by Luis Diaz was disallowed in a quick VAR review in which the offside line was not shown. The PGMOL reported shortly after the match that a “significant human error” had occurred on the seventh day of the Premier League.
«Luis Diaz’s goal was disallowed for offside by the field referees. It was a clear error and the goal should have been awarded with the intervention of the VAR. However, the VAR was unable to intervene,” the statement said.
Liverpool, who also suffered the expulsions of Curtis Jones and Diego Jota, conceded immediately after the Spurs’ 1-0 goal was disallowed and ended up losing the match due to an own goal by Matip in the 96th minute, a defeat that prevented him from becoming the leader.
It continued: «The goal by Luiz Diaz was disallowed for offside by the on-field team of match officials. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention, however, the VAR failed to intervene.»
