On Thursday, the parliamentary media committee prepared candidates for the deputies, from which the plenum will select new members Council of Czech Television a Council of Czech Radio. It will elect one member from three candidates to each of them. The committee selected its current members as candidates for the TV Council Vladimir Karmazínan information technology expert Jan Mikuláštík and a former presenter Veronika Sedláčková. A member of the Supervisory Commission of the Radio Council can head to the Radio Council Jakub Chytildirector of the Teplice Botanical Garden Petr Šila or current council member, actor and voice actor Zdenek Mahdal.
The MPs will choose one member of the councils of public radio and television from the proposed trio for one of the next meetings.
Its former vice-chairman, moderator and translator was unsuccessful in his candidacy for the Radio Council on Thursday Jiří Vejvodawho used to run the station Praguedidn’t even succeed René Zeithaml.
The committee did not support the TV Council Zdenek Šarapatkawho already sat in the council from 2015 to 2021 and unsuccessfully ran for the Senate in 2022 as a non-partisan TOP 09. He didn’t even succeed Petr Brozdanominee of the association for the study of sacred music Temple Music.
The boards of public television and radio represent an instrument by which the public is supposed to control these institutions. Their powers include approving the budget or electing CEOs. Last year, the CT Board expanded by three to 18 members, the Czech Radio Board has nine members. A third of the seats in both councils are now occupied by the Senate.
