(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 11 – An orchestra of 100 musicians performed this morning in an open rehearsal near the CPR in Milan, to ask through music for the closure of all “state concentration camps”. The square in front of the Sanctuary of Ortica was crowded, where the Never More Lager – No to CPR network gave life to the first open rehearsal of classical music and popular choirs near a Permanence Center for Repatriation with “NoCPR Musicians” from by Anpi Teatro alla Scala, Conservatorio Musica Verdi Milano, Civica Scuola Di Musica Claudio Abbado, various choirs and many other musical institutions, and with the support of Anpi Teatro alla Scala. The orchestra performed an instrumental song by Giovanni Gabrieli and the Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Fauré. In the second part of the event, the professional orchestra was joined by amateur musicians and singers, in a collective playing and singing of popular songs in solidarity with the people locked up in the CPR in Via Corelli. “Where words are not enough to describe the horror of the CPRs and administrative detention – explain the promoters of the concert – the notes can arrive, in a moment of citizen community to ask for the immediate closure of all the CPRs, starting with that of Milan, and oppose the opening of new ones, in Italy as in Albania”.
