The basketball players of “Chernomorets” defeated “Balkan” 70:57 (18:14, 18:12, 19:18, 15:13) in the second semi-final match.
Without the injured Christ Zahariev and Eugene Hadjirusev on their own field in the “Boycho Branzov” hall, the boys of Vasil Evtimov took revenge from “Balkans” and tied the series at 1-1 in the National Basketball League.
“Our defense was key. We limited Balkan to 57 points, I don’t know if they scored that few in the season, but from now on we will fight for the games we want to win, just with defense. Today we also won the fight, which also makes me very happy,” commented head coach Vasil Evtimov on his team’s victory.
“For the first game, I personally take the blame because I didn’t prepare my team for a playoff game, so we lost only because of me and my assistant. We prepared, made adjustments and responded to what we showed two days ago. I think many things were different,” emphasized Evtimov.
Travis McConico led the winners with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, plus 6 fouls. They scored 12 points each Andrey Ivanov (10 fights) and Sean Smith.
The third match between the two teams is on May 13 (Monday) at 19:00 in Botevgrad, and the fourth will be played there again on May 15 (Wednesday) at 19:00. If it comes to a decisive fifth, he will return the series to Burgas on May 18 (Saturday).
