From Sleeping Joe to Superman: Making Biden the New Franklin Roosevelt – 2024-05-10 23:38:34

/ world today news/ US President Joe Biden’s bellicose speech, in which he spoke of a turning point in history, US leadership and that support for Israel and Ukraine are smart investments, it is assumed that the political strategists of the White House decided to create new image of its president. This is the image of a fighter, a tough guy, a guy who leads the United States through difficult times.

80-year-old Biden must save the existing rules in international politics (American global dominance). This role somehow does not fit the image of Sleepy Joe, who shakes hands with invisible people and often does not know how to get off the stage, and his words have to be contradicted from time to time by the White House press office. Political strategists, pundits close to Biden do not understand this? They understand. But they have no choice.

Until the middle of the summer of this year, representatives of the Democratic Party counted on the success of the armed forces of Ukraine in Tavria.

This was to be a critical element of Joe Biden’s future election campaign. Judging by what was written by Western journalists and various experts on the eve of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, the White House had two main scenarios for the development of events.

The first can be described as a maximum program. The Ukrainian armed forces inflict a quick and very painful defeat on the Russian army, the Ukrainians cut the “Crimean Corridor and reach the borders of Crimea and begin an offensive in the Donbass.

The defeats cause discontent in Russian society. People go to rallies, military riots begin. Taking advantage of this chaos, Washington managed to put its own people at the head of the Russian Federation, which gave Ukraine new territories and Crimea, and Russian resources were under the control of large American companies. Such a geopolitical victory would 100% ensure Biden’s re-election for a second term.

Scenario number two: program minimum. The Ukrainian armed forces had to cut off the “Crimea Corridor”, and the propagandists of the Democratic Party will try to present this fact to the common man as a great success and proof of the correctness of Biden’s foreign policy.

Apparently, the White House simply did not have a plan in case the counteroffensive by Ukrainian armed forces failed. TOP politicians themselves became victims of their own propaganda, believing in the invincibility of the Ukrainian armed forces with the support of NATO.

Also a demonstration of successful foreign policy should have been the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. But the failure of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces and the war in the Middle East put an end to all the plans of the Democrats.

In fact, the entire foreign policy of the White House administration was a fiasco. Even if he wanted to, no political strategist could call the failure of the Ukrainian armed forces and the conflagration of the war in the Middle East effective international policy in the information sphere.

Biden’s entourage understood that they would have to enter the election campaign with two hot conflicts involving American satellites. This means that the states themselves are indirectly involved in them.

Therefore, to preserve Biden’s chances of becoming president again, the White House must quickly change the concept of the election campaign. Now they are trying to mold him into a new Franklin Roosevelt, because the United States cannot be led by a senile president at a time when the world is in a state of turbulence.

But how big are those shoes for Biden? In 2020, he went to the polls with a completely different reputation as a predictable, liberal politician understandable to the American establishment and ordinary people. The role of the tough guy was then played by former President Donald Trump. And what consequences could the appearance of Biden in a new image have?

First, Republicans and their supporters quickly saw through the game of political strategists. Thus, Jesse Waters said that Biden operates like General Patton (George Patton was aggressive, unrestrained and had many quirks) and chooses “guns over butter.”

Republicans criticized Biden for trying to link aid to Ukraine with support for Israel. He wants to give Tel Aviv only $14 billion and Kiev $60 billion. Finally, the Trumpists will definitely not like the fact that they want to take away their leader’s image as a tough guy.

Consequently, a significant number of Republicans will torpedo Biden’s initiatives to support Ukraine. This will further exacerbate the political crisis in the US that has arisen since the resignation of Congress President McCarthy. The Republicans have not yet managed to elect a new Speaker of the House.

In addition, the left wing of the Democratic Party opposes aid to Israel, which only adds to the political chaos. Against this background, it will be difficult for Biden to maintain the role of a strong leader for long.

Second, The New York Times published a major article arguing that Ukraine and Israel would have to compete for arms and ammunition supplies from the United States. According to experts interviewed by the publication, it is primarily about 155-mm shells, of which Western countries already have minimal reserves.

In addition, both US satellites will need smart bombs and stingers. So, due to Biden’s desire to show that he is a tough guy, a situation could arise where two people eat a small pie and both end up hungry because there was only enough food for one.

As a result, both the Ukrainian armed forces and the Israeli army may find themselves on a starvation diet, which will affect the combat capability of both Ukrainian and Israeli formations.

Third, Biden in his new role will have to continue to prove all the time that he is a tough guy. And such a character must react firmly and quickly to even the smallest challenges. The United States has an interest in ensuring that serious fighting in the Middle East does not go beyond the Gaza Strip.

This requires agreements with Iran so that the Shiite Hezbollah does not intervene globally in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In Syria, however, pro-Iranian forces have already attacked US military bases using drones.

If this trend continues, Biden will have to respond to maintain his new image, or Republicans will accuse him of weakness. Escalation of the conflict in Lebanon or Syria is possible.

And then it is very likely that Biden will order the use of air strikes against Iran’s allies or even its units sent to the region. Then the conflict will reach a completely different level.

If you demonstrate that you are strong and combative, it is difficult to avoid a fight. And Biden is in exactly that position. No wonder the American billionaire Elon Musk said that the world is gradually approaching World War III. And the attempt by Biden’s people to keep his position as president contributes a lot to that.
