They went to the market and saw the prices of 2024 cherries. “They’re crazy!” When will cherries at the stands be cheaper?

Cherry prices in 2024 will be crazy!

The first ones this year have just appeared on markets and stalls cherries. Plump, red and shiny, they tempt gourmets with their appearance, but after looking at their price, the appetite quickly disappears. A kilogram of cherries costs about PLN 100. Such literally jaw-dropping prices are reported by, among others: author of the blog nazwawsadzie.pl.

Compared to last year’s cherry prices, such an offer seems downright shocking. However, it is worth remembering that the real cherry season is still ahead of us, and the fruits that appeared on the stands are imported, which significantly increases their price. The cherries that are currently on sale do not come from Polish orchards, but from distant corners of Europe – including: Greece and Spain. Bringing them to Poland involves, among other things, with high costs, hence their exorbitant price.

When will cherries be cheaper?

The most effective solution in this case may be… patience. As we read on the pracawsadzie.pl blog, due to favorable weather, the first Polish cherries should appear on the market even earlier than in previous years, i.e. even in mid-May. Initially theirs cena it may still be quite high, as this is always the case with the first harvest, however with each subsequent week, when their availability increases, we will pay much less per kilogram.
