Santiago 2023: Peruvian marathoner Cristhian Pacheco becomes two-time Pan American champion

This Sunday, the Peruvian athlete Cristhian Pacheco became two-time champion of the Santiago 2023 Paran American Games in the marathon. In second place came Chilean Hugo Castrileo and third place went to Luis Ostos, also Peruvian.

Pacheco crossed the finish line at 2 hours 11 seconds 14 hundredths, while Castrileo did so at 2:12:07 and Luis Ostos, also a Peruvian, won the bronze medal with a time of 2:12:34.

With this result, Cristhian Pacheco defended well his gold medal achieved at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games and confirms Peru as a marathon power in America.

The platoon of competitors toured the Explanada Campo de Marte headquarters, in O’Higgins Park. The marathon took place on the circuit that included the Santiago Centro and Providencia communes, passing through Rondizzoni, Matta, Eliodoro Yáñez and Providencia Avenues, until reaching the finish line located inside O’Higgins Park.

The marathon opened the athletics program at the nineteenth edition of the Pan American Games.
