Julissa Moody, Sophia Ramos and Fabiola Salmerón, athletes from our Effort and Glory Program, managed to advance to the third round of the repechage, U18 female category, at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2024, which takes place in El Sunzal and La Bocana, in Freedom.
Moody placed in the first box with a score of 12.16 in a heat in which she surpassed the Spanish Enara Palacios, who advanced as second with 10.36 points; and Raipoe Chapelier (Tahiti), with 9.70, and the Dutch Lun van Dijk (9.10) were eliminated.
For her part, Ramos achieved a score of 7.33 in a heat dominated by Kohai Fierro, from Tahiti, while Fabiola Salmerón did her homework by securing second place in her heat with 7.03 and in which she was only surpassed by Kahili Simon, from Tahiti. , who won the block with 9.73.
In men’s U16, Salvadorans Deifry Méndez and Jason Molina managed to pass the filter of the first round of the repechage by registering scores of 8.73 and 8.14 in their respective heats and placing in first place.
Méndez will surf in round 2 of the repechage in a heat against the Ukrainian Tkachenco, the Frenchman Aaron Bacon and the Israeli Oriyan Shemer.
In the case of Molina he will face Daniel Banfield, from Barbados, the Chilean Pascual Llorens and the Mexican Kalama Stratton.
In other results, Dorothy Raquel Moody and Sophia Ramos were left out of the competition in the U16 female category in the second round of repechage by finishing in fourth and third place with scores of 5.84 and 6.54, respectively.
In men’s U18, El Salvador was left without representatives after Julio Ernesto Crespín finished in third place with 4.87 points in the second round repechage.
Miguel Navarro and Melvin Ayala could not overcome the repechage round 1, finishing third in their respective heat with scores 9.37 and 9.73.
