Remembering Football Legends: Vladimir Michalko and Peter Direr Pass Away

SLOVAKIA – The last few weeks have been sad for many people in Slovakia, because we had to say goodbye to several important people. Two more football lovers have gone to eternal rest.

Football club FK Spišská Nová Ves na on a social network information about how one of them left unexpectedly and quickly. At the age of 58, he left us forever on Sunday, May 5, 2024 Vladimir Michalko, who was part of the club for many years as a player, official and coach. Apart from the club in Spišská Nova Ves, he also played for Sereď, VSŽ Košice, Rožňava and Závadka. He coached Spišské Vlachy and Olcnava.

“Everyone who knew him knew that he was always a smiling and positive person with a big heart and his greatest passion was football. On the pitch, he was the classic team spirit, and as a coach he was always calm and handled many difficult situations with a smile. It is his smile and hope that we will all remember forever.” wrote the club.

Many people will remember Vlad who was surprised when he left. “The best kind hearted person and coach I have ever met” Erik remembers. “Vladko, my friend. I will never forget the 4 seasons spent in Spišská with you and other good friends. God rest in peace my friend. Heartfelt condolences to the whole family,” Jaroslav added.

Vladek is remembered by many as a wonderfully funny man and a great coach. Everyone will miss him and can’t believe that he is gone so unexpectedly. The farewell to the deceased will be on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 15:00 in the church in Matejovce nad Hornádom.

A good referee also left us

On the same day, Sunday, May 5, he left us forever at the age of 72 Peter Direrlong-time soccer referee. He told about Banská Bystrica Regional Football Association. He mainly refereed competitions at the Banská Bystrica Regional Football Association.

Many thought he was a legend and a renowned referee. According to them, he was a good guy, a good referee and everyone will miss him very much.

The last farewell will be on Friday, May 10 at 1:00 pm in the ceremonial hall of the crematorium in Kremnička.
