Sad news hit the poker and music world. Producer, guitarist and holder of two WSOP bracelets Steve Albini has died at the age of 61.

Steve Albini passed away after a heart attack
Holder of two WSOP bracelets from 2018 and 2022 Steve Albini died at the age of 61 after a heart attack. The general public knew him not only as an excellent poker player, but also as a world-famous producer who, among other things, participated in the legendary album In Utero by the band Nirvana.
During his poker career, according to The Hendon Mob database, he managed to claim 9 paid places in World Series of Poker tournaments, which he mainly played. His domain was mixed formats such as Mixed Triple Draw Lowball, HORSE or Seven Card Stud. In the last two formats, he even went on to win the title of champion.
Due to his age, he also jumped into senior WSOP events, where he scored 2 paid places. His last official tournament was the WSOPC event last October. Here he made it to the 17th place.
Steve Albini was not only involved in tournaments, he was also an avid cash game player. He regularly sat in on live shows around Chicago, where his music studio is also based.

He was also known to the general public as an excellent musician and producer. He participated in the creation of world-famous icons of the music industry such as the band Pixies, singer PJ Harvey, musician Jarvis Cocker and Jimmy Page and Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin. He is best known for his collaboration with the grunge band Nirvana. Here he left an indelible mark on their iconic album In Utero.
However, Steve Albini did not only sit behind the mixing desk of his Electrical Audio Recording studio, but also worked as a frontman in the bands Shellac and Big Black. He founded the second named band already in 1981 while studying journalism and they played mainly industrial and post punk music.
They were planning a big comeback with the band Shellac and planned to release their new album To All Trains next week (May 17).
