Oskar Lindblom has gone all the way from the club’s U16 to the A team and then on to the NHL. The player who has gone through the entire ladder and Morgondagens Brynäsare then went after the SM silver in 2017, where Oskar was one of the most prominent players, over to the NHL to play in the Philadelphia Flyers. The club he was drafted by in 2014.
In Philadelphia, it was five seasons before there was a club change with a new address San Jose Sharks. After the two completed seasons there, with a total of seven seasons in the NHL, he now returns home to Gävle and Brynäs IF.
– It feels incredibly good, I have always dreamed of coming back to Brynäs. To now be able to do when I am at a fairly young age where I feel that I can continue to develop feels extra good, I am very dedicated to this, says Oskar Lindblom.
The debut in the club’s A team came in the 13/14 season. The following season, he took a regular jersey and made three straight A-team seasons. The best season was 16/17 when he accounted for 47 points (22+25) in 52 games and was, together with the team, an overtime goal in the final game 7 away from a SM gold.
– I’m here to win, the ambition is to eventually be at the top and fight, that’s why I’m coming home. I believe in both the club and the team. I also like the momentum around the association right now and it will be incredibly inspiring to play in front of these supporters again, says Oskar Lindblom.
The 27-year-old has now gathered further routine both on and off the pitch. In total, there were 337 games in the NHL and in them he scored 112 points (56+56). The player who comes home is in the right career position and has a great hunger to be involved and become a crucial piece of the puzzle for the association’s journey forward.
One person who knows Oskar well is his old teammate, sporting director Johan Alcén, who shares his thoughts about Oskar now returning to Brynäs IF:
– It is of course very gratifying that Oskar is coming home. He is a player that we all know what capacity he possesses and he knows very well what the club wants and stands for. He is not only a good hockey player, he is also a good person who always does his utmost and makes others better, that is something that we also value very highly. I have played with Oskar myself so I know how important he will be to this group. He is also at a good age where he has gathered a lot of experience but also has many years of hockey left in him.
The contract with Oskar Lindblom is written for 2+3 years and he joins the team when pre-season training starts.
A warm welcome home to Gävle and Brynäs IF, Oskar Lindblom!
