March 26 in Jurbarka. an open chess tournament for children born in 2010 and younger was held at the Sports Center of this city. 33 young chess players from Klaipėda district and Tauragė sports centers were invited as guests.
In the absolute standings, the battle took place between three representatives of our school – Auksė Zonytė, Dominykas Kušlikis and Matas Valaikas. Only the three of them decided the division of prize places among themselves. Auksė won, scoring 6.5 points out of 7 possible, Dominykas second – 6 points, Matas third – 5.5.
Among the representatives of other schools, several of our students were in the front line. First of all, Nojus Semenauskas, Edgaras Triušys, Tadas Petruškevičius. Our youngest – Aron Bužas and Dominykas Kondrotas – tried to keep up with them. After all, Noah was in sixth place overall (5 points), Edgar was in seventh place (5 points), Tad was in eighth place (4.5 points), Dominykas was in thirteenth place (4 points), and Aron, who finished unsuccessfully, was in nineteenth place (3 points). Noja Valaikaitė was especially surprising from our team, who scored 3.5 points with a perfect finish and managed to rise to 16th overall place, and was recognized as the first among girls (excluding Auksė Zonytė and Austėja Armoškaitė, who received prizes in general categories). Jonas Šimulis was in the final 21st place (3 points), Mantvidas Simutis – 22nd (3 points), Edvinas Liaušas – 29th (2 points), Povilas Ovaltas – 31st (2 points). According to the regulations of the competition, the representatives of individual age groups were also awarded. Here we also won this one. Among the students born in 2011-2012, Edgaras Triušys won. Dominykas Kondrotas won third place among those born in 2014. So, we brought three winners’ cups and 6 place medals to Gargždis. And this is a good achievement. It was a good experience to test my level of preparation.
