Tamás Gyárfás no longer has a company, because the former media czar, the former owner of the legendary Nap TV, transferred his company St. Plusz Könyv- és Lapkiadó Adatfeldolgozó és Nyomdaipari Kft. to his wife’s name on March 8 this year – according to public databases. Just one month earlier, on February 8, it was revealed that the Metropolitan Court sentenced producer Tamás Gyárfás, the former president of the Hungarian Swimming Association, to seven years in prison. Tamás Gyárfás was found guilty of manslaughter as an accessory and Tamás Portik as an instigator in the murder of János Fenyő. In the case, this is the first instance verdict against which the lawyers appealed, so it is not legally binding.

St. Plusz Kft. has been the company of Tamás Gyárfás since 1990, but is now owned by Gézáné Gyárfás Tamás. Despite this, hvg.hu is not a well-known company in 2016 wrote about it, because it turned out that this very company produces the magazine of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), which appears every two months in both print and digital format Fina Aquatic World Magazinet. According to the article, the fact that Gyárfás is not only the responsible editor of the magazine (together with Pedro Adrega, the head of the communications department of the FINA office), but also its authorized publisher was revealed to a layman when someone tried to subscribe on the FINA website: upon payment, the 100% Gyárfás- interest, the page directs you to the current account of St. Plusz Kft. maintained by K&H Bank.
According to the hvg article, between 2010 and 2014, the company’s total sales revenue from exports increased from zero to more than HUF 474 million according to public company data. The editorial office of the magazine – in addition to FINA’s office in Lausanne – is the headquarters of St Plusz Kft. in Budapest, and its editor was Gergely Csurka, the communications manager of the Hungarian swimming association. According to the newspaper, nothing could be said about the benefits that Tamás Gyárfás’s company could have gained from working with FINA. One thing is certain: between 2011 and 2014, St. Plus Kft.’s operating profit was always in the red.
As in 2022, according to the last available report, the company had an income of HUF 59 million that year, but this was only enough for a loss of HUF 46.6 million. However, it has assets of half a billion forints and own capital of 377 million forints. Although Tamás Gyárfás is no longer the owner of the company, he is still its managing director. At the same time, a new company manager joined the team on March 8 in the person of Orsolya Nagy.
Despite the seriousness of the case, the former president of the Hungarian Swimming Association can await his sentence at liberty in his own home, and he only has to report to the designated police station once a week. After the first instance verdict, it is Tamás Gyárfás ATV Start on the show, he talked about how it is irrational to believe that he had anything to do with the Fenyő murder. He accepted the role because he believes that wrong information is being spread in the press. Gyárfás also said that he does not want to qualify the court’s decision, he expects that the truth will be revealed in the second instance.
