Libreville, Thursday May 9, 2024 (Gabon News) – The problem suffered by populations in some neighborhoods of Greater Libreville, Owebdo, Akanda, Ntoum, after a permanent lack of drinking water could continue for a few months . The PIAEPAL project saw its equipment damaged by crooks.
The PIEAPAL project coordinator, Gervais Nguema Mba, was shocked when he visited the construction sites on Tuesday at the sabotage of his structure’s equipment. “They come to see to take these gates and they also saw these foods taken for resale, it’s a real shame,” said Dare Kpandj, head of the control mission of the group CIRA_SAS / S2 + BTP.
It’s the same pain he feels too. “One wonders why this solution? Because it seems that there is someone who wants to boycott the project. “Without the resumption of connections, everything we have done upstream will fail,” he said.
The extent of this phenomenon can be seen in several neighborhoods, where the pipes are supplied with drinking water, but to make matters worse, this does not reach homes because of the strange device that the thieves planted in the involved
It should be remembered that the PIAEPAL project is placed under the direct supervision of the Minister of Energy and Hydraulic Resources. Also, members of the project coordinator unit visited the work of expanding drinking water supply and changing meters in the areas of Akounam2, Rougier, and Owendo.
Many households that have been without drinking water for a long time are now happy because they are getting precious liquids. It should be remembered regarding the sabotage and theft of PIAEPAL equipment, that a complaint against X was submitted to the Directorate General of Research (DGR), a unit of the national gendarmerie.
