Kingdom of the planet of the apes: ‘A day at the zoo is much more exciting’

Monkeys that talk, monkeys that ride horses and monkeys that treat people as inferior beings: since the classic Planet of the apes from 1968 we can’t get enough of it.

Kingdom of the planet of the apes is now the tenth monkey film adventure. This time without the charismatic monkey leader Caesar, but with his evil reflection Proximus, who has crowned himself king.

2h25 is a long time for a film in which little happens. It’s not boring, it’s rarely exciting and it’s only scary once. The successful franchise is milked here into a big-budget youth film that emphatically plays it safe. A day at the zoo is so much more exciting.

In theaters from May 8
