Boyko Borisov changes 4 bosses in GERB, he is thinking about two more – 2024-05-09 14:44:54

/ world today news/ – Menda Stoyanova, Krasimir Velchev, Plamen Nunev and Yordanka Fandakova are scheduled to lose their positions in the leadership of the party on May 11

– Dimitar Nikolov and Zhivko Todorov were questionable for now

– Weak results in cities that are his favourites, which provoked Borisov to start cleaning

– He did not yet have favorites for new party leaders, but most likely they will be from the previous ministers

At least four of the current heads of GERB will resign on May 11. For this date, the leader of the party, Boyko Borisov, has scheduled a convocation of the National Council of GERB. And the agenda includes changing the vice-presidents and members of the Party’s Executive Committee.

The national assembly of GERB is held according to the schedule, as according to the statute it must happen every 4 years. In 2019, however, Borisov also convened an extraordinary meeting in order to remove the then second in the party, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, from his post of deputy chairman. The collection of the asset then lasted only an hour and a half.

No new candidate was proposed to replace Tsvetanov, and Borisov’s deputies in the party remained the mayors of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova and Burgas Dimitar Nikolov. And Borisov announced that in the future he will bet more on the Executive Committee in the management of the party, instead of creating a new second person in it.

It is Fandakova and Nikolov who are two of the people who fall into Borisov’s plans to change the upper floors of GERB, “24 Chasa” learned. The leader of the party was disappointed by the poor results in the big cities that he has so far favored, including in the direction of European funds for their development. In Sofia, GERB lost the elections in two of the three capital districts, in Burgas it is the first political force, but it has collapsed by more than 10% compared to its result from 2017.

Already in the first days after the elections

Borisov had

conversations with a part

of the people who

according to him they are not

active during

of the campaign

for the parliamentary elections and were blamed for the poor performance. He openly expressed his claims to them that GERB should have received more votes from these settlements.

The leader was still not sure whether he would replace Dimitar Nikolov as deputy chairman of GERB. The mayor of Stara Zagora, Zhivko Todorov, was in a similar situation, where until now the ruling party with its 22% was on the verge of losing the elections to Slavi Trifonov’s “There is such a people”. Zhivko Todorov is a member of the Executive Committee of GERB.

However, Borisov continued to see potential in Nikolov and Todorov and rather intended to leave them in lower party positions.

Yordanka Fandakova will most likely leave the party leadership to dedicate herself to the fourth post in the country – mayor of Sofia. Especially for the capital, Borisov was unhappy that the mayor and municipal councilors from GERB were not active in the election campaign.

Certainly, for these reasons, Ruse MP Plamen Nunev will leave the party’s Executive Committee. He

will be replaced

and as regional

coordinator of

the party for Ruse,

after, although with an equal number of mandates won from the region, GERB lost to “There is such a people”. Slavi Trifonov’s party won 18,556 votes in this constituency, and GERB 18,445 votes.

Nunev will remain an MP – he was second in the Ruse list of Borisov’s party after the Minister of Sports Krasen Kralev.

The until recently MP Menda Stoyanova will be sent into retirement as a member of the Executive Committee of GERB.

The former head of the tax department in Plovdiv was the chairman of the budget and finance committee in the 41st, 43rd and 44th parliaments. At the end of the 41st National Assembly, he was briefly the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.

for the elections in 2021. It is said that one of the main reasons for the economist’s fall from the lists is the criticism that she bears the blame for texts in the Gambling Law, which allowed for years the companies of the businessman who fled to Dubai, Vasil Bozhkov, to pay less taxes to the budget. According to the charges brought against him by the prosecutor’s office, he damaged the treasury by nearly half a billion BGN.

In retirement as a member of the party leadership, Borisov planned to send one of GERB’s longest serving cadres, Krasimir Velchev, who in the last parliament was deputy head of the party’s parliamentary group. He was also surprisingly not included in the lists of GERB for the parliamentary elections.

For now, it is almost certain that Borisov plans to leave Tomislav Donchev and Daniela Daritkova in the party’s Executive Committee. Rather, among those remaining in the party leadership were the coordinator for Silistra Todor Todorov and the former chairwoman of the 44th National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva. Against the last two they flowed

In Silistra, GERB is the first political force, but with only 1,000 votes ahead of DPS. In Kardzhali, where Karayancheva’s district is located, the movement defeated GERB and took 3 of the total five mandates of the electoral district.

Borisov had not yet named his favorites for promotion in the party career, so that the names of the vice-presidents and members of the Executive Committee could be filled. As yet, he was scouting for people who he believed would help strengthen the role of the party’s collective leadership.

Rumors in GERB, however, indicate as candidates for a party career the head of TV “Europe” and the Institute for Right-Wing Politics Georgi Harizanov and the former Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva.

comment in the party. Immediately after the elections, she was among the main speakers of GERB, who were sent to participate in television studios. From her came the news that Borisov will not be a candidate for prime minister, although GERB will propose a government in the 45th National Assembly as well.

Turmoil in GERB was also caused by the party’s membership announced by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Daniel Mitov. He announced it himself on Saturday in a television interview.

Mitov, who until now has been a member of the DSB founded by Ivan Kostov and of Meglena Kuneva’s “Movement Bulgaria of the Citizens”, was counted for the quota of the Reform Bloc in Borisov’s second government. However, the former minister explained to “Nova News” that he was invited to take up the post personally by Boyko Borisov.

Mitov’s name was also discussed as an option for a future candidate for prime minister on behalf of GERB in a government in which Borisov does not participate personally.
