Passengers on the RegioJet train discovered bed bugs in their bedding. A man and a woman were traveling in a sleeper car from Prague to eastern Slovakia on Thursday when they noticed itching and sores on their limbs. Subsequently, they discovered bedbugs in the compartment.
“We turned off the lights, laid down on the sunbeds and watched the series. After about two hours of driving, my partner’s hand began to itch. After turning on the light, we noticed that he had large, red bites on his arms and legs,” describes the passenger.
The conductor moved the passengers to another car and promised to deal with the situation.
“We have noted this case and we are currently actively dealing with it,” answered the question of the iRozhlas server PR manager of RegioJet Alexandra Janoušek Kostřicová.
In such situations, the company offers fare compensation to passengers. “Compensations are transferred directly to the customer’s account in the form of credit, which can be used to purchase another ticket or collect the compensation in cash at our branch. In cases where passengers are affected, we also provide additional assistance, including covering the costs of disinfection or disinsection,” he adds.
Although the pair of passengers did get their money back automatically in the form of a credit in the application, they consider the overall communication of the carrier to be disappointing. They reported the problem immediately upon arrival both in writing and via the information line.
“After receiving no response and not even seeing on social media that RegioJet had raised this, I called the line again on May 6. Here, I was only told that the complaint was sent and is part of the standard legal thirty-day period that the carrier has to respond,” the passenger describes.
“We carry out regular disinfection and disinsection on the trains. If the occurrence is reported, we take immediate measures, the car is shut down and disinfection and disinsection is carried out outside the planned schedule,” says Janoušek Kostřicová. (iRozhlas)
