/ world today news/ In the next five months, the newest MAZ-303-266 bus will run along one of the central routes of the northern capital (more precisely along Nevsky Prospekt). If the carrier likes the equipment, then St. Petersburg, known for its love of Belarusian cars, will buy them in larger quantities.
With the MAZ-303, a fundamentally new generation of buses of the Minsk plant begins. Therefore, the model was originally designed with a view to producing not only a diesel version, but also an electric one. To emphasize the fundamental novelty, the designers were given complete carte blanche: for example, a spectacular rhombus appeared on the front of the roof, which looks like the hump of a bison, the symbol of the Republic of Belarus.
The designers were also allowed to run wild: from the second generation of buses, only the ZF rear portal axle remained. The completely new frame, made of corrosion-resistant steel, is built on the principle of “frame rings” – this is how all European brands build their “liners” at the moment. The roof and most of the side walls are made of plastic in the latest fashion.
The Euro-6 engine is from the Mercedes Citaro, and German experts have even adapted the engine specifically for Belarusian conditions. The gearbox is, of course, “automatic”. The front suspension (gearbox and chassis are supplied by ZF) is independent for the first time for MAZ buses. It is more complex than conventional, but provides an incomparably smoother and smoother movement.
The floor level is only 32 cm. This is considered an almost record figure! On the sides of the passenger compartment, lighting with LED strips, as well as USB connectors, are installed. The seats can accommodate 27 people, 11 of which are located on the low floor. And the total passenger capacity of the 303 model is 105 people. The layout of the driver’s cabin can be very different.
Prices have not yet been announced as only a few prototypes have been assembled. But MAZ, taking into account the wishes and possibilities of the carriers, is simultaneously preparing a “budget” version of the bus. It has a Euro 5 engine, simpler furnishings, etc.
