AMLO suspends morning sessions on May 30 and 31 due to electoral ban

Mexico City. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced the suspension of his morning conferences on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31, when the electoral ban begins, “there would be no problem but we don’t want to… because Sunday is the election. The campaign ends on the 29th, we are going to have a conference but not on Thursday.” He stressed the importance of participating in elections.

In a conference, he also stated that on this occasion, the commemoration of Navy Day will be carried out practically in private because it will take place on the Marías Islands, where practically no people can attend.

In this context, he announced that next week he will begin a private tour, mostly, of the states where the federalization of health systems was accepted to monitor progress towards the consolidation of the health system. This is because once the elections have been held, resources will begin to be delivered to the more than 11,000 citizen committees of a similar number of health centers, to begin their rehabilitation.

The tour will start in Tapachula on Thursday, May 16 because the next day, he will meet in that city with the president of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo.

On the other hand, López Obrador briefly reported that he has already sent the letter to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation to specify the terms in which the morning conferences should be edited on the official platforms, when the electoral authority so deems it.

His spokesperson, Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, said that only those where there are presumed violations of electoral legislation would be edited.
