Apple unveiled new iPad devices on Tuesday, which are the latest models of those tablets that the technology giant has been offering since the end of 2022, and feature a more efficient chip for tasks that require artificial intelligence .
Apple Vice President John Ternos, in a video clip posted online, pointed out that the new iPad Pro, which is only 5 mm thick, is “very thin.”
While previous models of Apple tablets were equipped with M2 chips, the new iPad Pro is equipped with an M4 chip designed by Apple. Tim Millett, another vice president of the company, said that the new chip has the same efficiency as the M2, but uses half as much energy.
In his speech, he focused on the performance of the M4 chip in managing tasks that require artificial intelligence, such as photo editing.
Apple fans are waiting for any release or innovation related to artificial intelligence, at a time when their rival companies in Silicon Valley are launching more and more products with this technology.
Commenting on the new devices from Apple, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said, “The slim design of the iPad Pro is impressive, and the additional artificial intelligence features will reduce the problems that customers had in the past.”
The price of the new iPad Pro starts at $1,000 for the 11-inch model, and $1,300 for the 13-inch model.
For $130, you can buy the new Apple Pencil, the Pencil Pro, to which a new sensor has been added. This pen, for example, can activate settings on the screen with a simple click.
As for the new iPad Air devices, they will be sold at prices starting at $600 for the small model, while the price of the original iPad has dropped to $350 instead of $430.
“There’s nothing particularly new to say about the iPad,” analyst Benedict Evans said in a post on the Threads website.
He said, “It’s similar in size to the Mac, but it hasn’t spread around the world, not because its quality doesn’t match that of the Mac, but because the iPhone is the first to ‘ meet most people’s computer needs. .”
Global tablet sales showed modest growth in the first quarter of this year, “after more than two years of decline,” according to IDC.
Demand for tablets decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apple kept the lead in this market, despite the annual decline in sales, which is mainly connected to the fact that it did not launch new models of its devices, according to IDC.
