The Day of Birds and Trees was celebrated on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and will be celebrated again on Thursday at the Kecskemét Arboretum. This year, KEFAG Zrt. organized – on the occasion of the Day of Birds and Trees – for kindergarten groups and school classes to get to know the plants of the arboretum, as well as the insects and birds that live there.
The playful acquaintance with nature began on Tuesday: that day the kindergarten groups arrived (they were also accompanied by their parents), and on Thursday the schoolchildren will take possession of the Kecskemét Arboretum.
In 1902, in Paris, European countries signed an agreement to protect useful birds. LIII of 1996. According to § 64 (3) of the Nature Conservation Act, “May 10 of every year is Bird and Tree Day. It was organized in Hungary – the first in the world – by the ornithologist István Chernel in 1902.
