Met Gala 2024: celebrities and extravagant outfits on the red carpet

Celebrities, glamour, and eccentricities are on display on the red carpet of the famous Met Gala, which takes place this evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year’s hosts are Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. The 2024 event celebrates the Costume Institute’s new exhibition: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion has the official dress code “the garden of time”, hence the presence of many floral and botanical looks. Bad Bunny, rapper and one of the hosts of the 2024 Met Gala

Rapper Bad Bunny arrived wearing John Galliano’s artisanal Maison Margiela collection – a navy-washed Barathea wool worn over a black satin corset. Her bouquet consisted of flower of maga, the national flower of Puerto Rico, a rose and a flax plant that Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger with in the original fairy tale.

Lily James, who played Cinderella on the big screen, wears a light pink dress designed by British designer Erdem. The black flower embroideries which enrich the dress represent, according to the magazine Vogue, admirers throwing flowers onto theater boards.
