IACHR grants precautionary measures to the family of the murdered Apu Quinto Inuma and the Kichwa community

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) granted precautionary measures to the relatives of the apu Quinto Inuma, murdered by criminals allegedly linked to illegal logging and the native Kichwa community Santa Rosillo de Yanayacu, settled in the San Martín region.

According to the IACHR, the request for protection was presented after the death of the indigenous leader in November 2023, since his family and members of the community were being threatened and violently intimidated by “settlers” who would seek to establish themselves on their lands. .
