The administration of President Joe Biden issued a statement in which it denied some rumors that emerged on social networks, ensuring that the United States planned to open the border with Mexico during the month of May.
According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the US had no plans to change immigration law or the way it applies its border controls.
The letter emphasizes that the United States maintains strict immigration laws, so anyone who tried to enter the territory irregularly would face serious legal consequences.

In that sense, a US Border Patrol (USBP) officer said that those who enter the country illegally would be returned to their country of origin, if it was determined that they were not eligible to receive asylum.
The aforementioned rumors began to gain traction online after the presidents of both countries announced that new joint measures were going to be taken to deal with illegal migration across the US southern border.
In that sense, North American authorities warned that this information could be shared by human traffickers, who seek to obtain profits by giving false hope to those migrants who are waiting to enter US territory.
The US warns that these people only want to make money, and that they do not care about the safety of the migrants who hire their services to reach the border. Therefore, they urged these people to use legal means to enter the country, even if it was a longer process.
Migration crisis at the border
Despite the measures already in force at the border, migrants continue to arrive in northern Mexico waiting to enter the United States. Official figures indicate that, between January 2023 and February 2024, more than 59,000 people were returned to their countries of origin after being detained by immigration authorities.
In March of this year, 193,249 migrants had already been detained on the southern border of the United States, after being discovered by the USBP.
