As usual and marking a break with what we are used to in Sancti Spíritus, Álvaro José Brunet returns to the Yayabera gallery with the exhibition loose art.
“I didn’t want to ignore my 50 years and already several of them dedicated to art photography. That’s why I thought the best way to share pieces that make up the series with the public. The stress of life“.
But, as we are already used to it, when Álvaro makes a place for himself, the exhibition marks a before and after in the history of the visual arts in Sancti Spiritus, because he opened doors without establishment. It is designed to be done on the day it expires, scheduled for May 29; special of which there is no mention here.

“These pictures which were printed on canvas in large format belong to the collectors who undertook the assembly. Today it is very difficult to pay for a show like this. On the last day they will take down their works and take them away. Therefore, the proposal is based on the beauty of relationship, which I have always liked to work on so that it does not remain cold on the walls, but also creates an intervention with the public, in this case with collectors.”
Although many of the paintings have been heard in exhibitions and salons, others come into contact with the public for the first time.
“The collectors were curators because from a group of 150 works they chose the 17 that are on display. In order not to alienate those who visit the gallery, on the last day we will do a draw and the winner will have a chance Meaning is emptywinning picture in the last Oscar Fernández Morera salon.”

Only before this, in 2011, was it possible to enjoy a large number of works belonging to the series The stress of life – the one that Álvaro made the most and, according to critics, where he shows his maturity as a creator-; Later, some had integrated group shows and competitions.
“This idea also allows us to reflect on what happens to art when it belongs to a collector; Of course, in general, because you pay a lot, you take care of it and protect it.”
Renowned visual artist Álvaro José Brunet announced that he is aiming for the day the exhibition ends loose art a video presentation that takes a tour of what happened with the job Final destinationpresented at Havana Biennial 2015 and which examines in detail what happens to the pieces outside the studio and galleries.
