Attracted by the spring heat, the mouse ears will soon be covered in sleet, at least in the north and east.
Variety is the spice.
If the old saying is to be believed, the past spring has been refreshing. It has never been boring.
In the current week, spring will continue its delay, when chilly air, night frosts, snow and sleet are expected.
Cold air has flowed into Finland from the north, and the week is going to be cool for the time in the whole country. Night frosts are experienced all the way to the south. The weather is chilly this week.
– Cool day temperatures and occasional night frosts can be expected throughout the country, says the meteorologist Joanna Rinne On Foreca’s weather blog.
Tomorrow night it will be mostly 1-5 degrees below zero across the country.
Snow and sleet
In addition to the coolness, rain arrives in Finland, which also comes as snow and sleet.
Solid rain is expected especially in the north and east. Snow and sleet may also fall in places in the central and southern parts of the country, at least in the southeast direction.
– On Tuesday, sleet and snow showers will occur not only in the north, but also in the southeast and east of the country, on Wednesday still in the east and southeast, Rinne says.
According to the forecast, during Thursday and Friday, the rain area will move over Finland and bring 5–10 centimeters of snow to Lapland in the course of two days. In some places in Lapland, it can snow up to more than 15 centimeters.

Up to 10 degrees below zero
Tuesday evening will turn cold. On the night before Wednesday, the whole country will be clear and cold.
– It is widely 1–10 degrees below freezing, locally even more. According to the current forecast, the coldest temperatures are in Lapland and in the direction of Kainuu and Koilismaa, Rinne says.
In low wind and clear weather conditions, there can be large local differences in the frost readings.
On Wednesday, it will be sunny in a large part of the country, but there are also snow and sleet showers in some places.
– There will be snow and sleet showers in the afternoon in the southeastern and eastern parts of the country. In the evening, the weather will clear up.
During the day on Wednesday, temperatures will be 5–9 degrees in the southern and western parts of the country. In the east and north it is mostly 1–6 degrees. The night before Thursday is cold.
End of the week
At the end of the week, a cold air current will still blow from the north in Finland. According to the current forecast, rain is expected this weekend, both in the form of snow, sleet and water.
So Mother’s Day may be spent in cold weather and rain.
– Even on weekends, the weather in Finland is quite unstable, says Rinne.
No big change in temperatures is expected over the weekend. Also next week, the weather seems to continue to be cool and unstable.
