Russia: Zakharova threatens “asymmetric measures” against the Baltic countries – 2024-05-07 00:05:39

The “enemy line” of its countries Baltic has led to the severance of most of their ties with Moscow, assessed today the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia while warning against taking asymmetric measures.

“Because of the openly hostile line of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn, ties with Russia have been severed,” Maria Zakharova told RIA news agency, referring to the capitals of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Zakharova added that Moscow will continue to use diplomatic means of influencing the Baltic countries.

Estonia last week accused Russia of violating international airspace rules by jamming GPS signals, with NATO adding that the Baltic states are among those “deeply concerned” about activities it says are Russian espionage.

Zakharova, without specifying which actions of the Baltic countries she was referring to, added, speaking to RIA, that Moscow will respond to the hostile actions of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia by taking asymmetric measures.

“We will also respond to the hostile actions of the Baltic countries with asymmetric measures, mainly in the economic and transit sector,” she explained.
