We have good knowledge! Soon, the walls of even five buildings in Alytus will be painted in bright colors, and most importantly, the history of the buildings and city life will be meaningful. As many as five buildings have been selected, which will speak the language of our city, thanks to the “Namai suARTina” initiative, which is taking place for the second time. The creative works of project implementation are already starting, and artists are preparing sketches for the walls of the buildings that will come to life soon.
We say THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to offer the walls of their homes, businesses or other buildings. In total, you proposed as many as 18 buildings, this year we will be able to beautify even five buildings – two of them accompany us on our journey to the Alytus mound (two arrays of garages), Šaltinių str. 2 five-story building, Vilniaus st. The shop “Zalia stotelė” at 5 and the apartment building at Vilties st. 4., where the honorary citizen of the city of Alytus, photo artist Zenon Bulgakov lived.
Neo-frescoes for these buildings will be created by well-known, professional muralists in Lithuania artists Pijus Čeikauskas, Artūras Šimonis, Pijus Šematulskis, Gabrielis Žvirblis-Gzparrow and Ukrainian Hudo Anton.
We continue the street gallery, adding more colors to the face of the city, visual highlights, while introducing the townspeople and city guests to the history of the city. After all, home is not just a certain physical place where people live, not just a material environment. Home is a moral place, a foundation of personal identity that allows us to navigate the world.
Historians are currently collecting archival material, analyzing collected historical situations, creating texts, and preparing for May 25 and June 8. for street gallery exhibitions “Home suARTina” for openings. So we invite you to mark the nearest date:
MAY 25 6 p.m. vernissage of wall painting works – a theatrical excursion dedicated to Z. Bulgakov’s jubilee. Vilniaus st. 5 – Vilties st. 4 – Šaltinė str. 2
Alytus will be able to be deservedly proud, because everyone the wall painting works of our city will be marked with QR codes and a route-map will be created, allowing you to get to know the city from different angles, reflecting the living history of Alytus, architecture, culture, historical figures, street art, etc.
An audio guide will be created for the presentation of each object – attractive texts voiced by actors, presenting their history not with an abundance of mathematical information, but with a vivid and interesting rendering of the city’s past.
The project is organized by the Alytus City Theater and the Alytus City Municipality, partly financed by the Lithuanian Culture Council, sponsored by UAB “Ramirent” and UAB “Daugesta”.
