Hizbullah Launches Rocket Attacks on Israeli Base in Golan Heights, Retaliating Against Israeli Attack in Lebanon – AFP Report

Group Hizbullah launched dozens of rocket attacks on a military base Israel in the Golan Heights. The rocket attack was said to be in retaliation for Israel’s attack on eastern Lebanon.

Reported by the news agency AFPThe Iranian-backed Lebanese militia group launched “dozens of Katyusha rockets” at an Israeli military base on Monday (6/5/2024).

Hezbollah admitted that it responded to the Israeli attack on Monday (6/5) early in the morning at local time in the eastern part of the country. Regarding the attack, the Israeli military said it struck a “military formation” of Hezbollah.

Official Lebanese media reported that three people were injured as a result of the Israeli attack.

Hezbollah fighters then launched “dozens of Katyusha rockets” targeting “the headquarters of the Golan Region… at the Nafah base”, the group said in a statement, as reported by the AFP news agency, on Monday (6/ 5).

Hezbollah said it was “in response to enemy attacks targeting the Bekaa region”.

Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah have regularly exchanged fire across the border since the October 7 attack by the Hamas group on southern Israel, which sparked a war in the Gaza Strip.

In the last few weeks, friends HamasHezbollah, has stepped up its attacks against northern Israel, and the Israeli army has gone deeper into Lebanese territory.

“Enemy warplanes launched an attack around 01.30 this morning on a factory in Sifri, injuring three civilians and destroying the building,” the official Lebanese National News Agency said.

Sifri is located in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, near the city of Baalbek, about 80 kilometers from the border between Israel and Lebanon.

The Israeli military said its warplanes “attacked Hezbollah military structures… deep inside Lebanon,” calling the location “Safri.”

In Lebanon, at least 390 people have been killed in nearly seven months of cross-border violence. Most of them were terrorists but they also included more than 70 civilians, according to the AFP count.

At the same time Israel said that 11 soldiers and nine civilians were killed on its side of the border. Tens of thousands of people are displaced in all directions.
