There are about 150 hospitals, for which it may be necessary to hold repeated contests for the election of a director, if the changes proposed by Maya Manolova in the Law on Medical Institutions are approved by the deputies in the plenary hall.

The bill of “Stand up! Get out!”, which on Thursday received 9 “yes” votes from the deputies in the parliamentary health committee.

It also proposes that hospitals with more than 50% state participation be excluded from the Public Enterprises Act, which, however, could create a problem on our way to the Eurozone, as their inclusion is part of the requirements for entering the banking union, which already we are a member.

With over 50% state participation are all large hospitals, university and regional medical institutions. Private and municipal hospitals are not included in this group.

According to NSI data for 2019.

The remaining 150 or so are precisely those who would be affected by the proposed changes to director rotations.

In a large part of them, contests have already been held for the election of a new director. They ended about a month ago.

In 6 of the state hospitals, however, they are not completed, and while the moratorium imposed by the 45th National Assembly on the actions of the resigned government, they cannot be completed.
