Sassuolo’s victory and the draws in the direct clashes between Cagliari and Lecce and between Empoli and Frosinone have further confused the Serie A table at the bottom. With 3 rounds to go, and with Udinese-Napoli (8.45 pm) at the gates, a real tangle has been created with 6 teams enclosed within 5 points in an attempt not to end up in the 2 places that send to B to keep company with the Salernitana has already been relegated. Only Lecce seems to be almost on target given that they are at 37 points.

Play-off risk: possibly it will be in a double challenge
In short, there is a serious risk, as happened last season, that it will come played a playoff. However, the rules have changed: there will no longer be a single match on a neutral pitch (last year Verona-Spezia was played in Reggio Emilia, ed.) but rather a double match with a home and away match.
Udinese referee salvation: 3 direct clashes in sight
The arbiter of the struggle for salvation could be Udinese which, regardless of the outcome of the postponement, will be faced by everyone direct clashes in the last 180′: away next Monday in Lecce and then in the last match in Frosinone, in between at home against Empoli. On the same day, in the penultimate round, the last scheduled direct clash will be played, the one between Sassuolo and Cagliari in Reggio Emilia.
Empoli have the most difficult schedule
On paper the Empoli have a more difficult calendar which, in order, must face Lazio and Udinese away and ends with Roma at the Castellani. Lecce will play everything next Monday at Via del Mare against Udinese to avoid having to look for points in the complicated matches with Atalanta, again in Salento and Naples, at Maradona.
Verona and Frosinone, the calendar smiles
Sassuolo, apart from winning the difficult match against Cagliari, will have to try to get points away from Genoa, next time, and Lazio. Cagliari now has two complicated away games (Milan and Sassuolo) before finishing in Sardinia by hosting Fiorentina. Finally, the commitments awaiting Verona (Turin and Inter at home and Salernitana away) and Frosinone (Inter and Udinese in the last match at Stirpe interspersed with the away match in Monza) are of medium level.
