Stress has a negative effect on the health of the nervous system, and it can extend to other organs of the body as well.
The Russian doctor and specialist in rehabilitation medicine, Sergei Agapkin, said: “Stress not only has a negative effect on the health of the nervous system, but it also has a negative effect on the health of the teeth,” according to Vesti.
He said: “Due to stress, a person can grind their teeth while sleeping, and this is called bruxism. Those who suffer from this problem may not notice it, but in the end otherwise the teeth could be exposed to damage and decay.”
Teeth grinding, or what is known as Bruxism, is the process of clenching the jaws together forcefully, causing the teeth to rub against each other.
It is difficult to determine the reasons for teeth grinding, but scientific studies indicate that this problem may be caused by anxiety, stress, and emotional-psychological problems, and that it may be due to problems in splitting the jaws, alcohol abuse, or smoking.
