Minint investigates alleged sabotage that left Santa Clara without water – 2024-05-05 18:43:30

The authorities of the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba (Minint) in the province of Villa Clara are investigating what appears to be a possible sabotage carried out in the main conductor of the Santa Clara aqueduct, which would have left some 90,000 people in the territory without water. after a section of PVC pipe was destroyed by fire.

According to a report shared by the local station CMHWthe “unscrupulous element” responsible for these actions is already in custody, and the Hydraulic Resources forces of three provinces of the country have moved to the site of the damage to try to fix the damage.

The fire occurred at kilometer two and a half of the national highway, and the damage prevents the pumping of water from the large elevated tank to the downtown area of the city.

The calamities increase, because after more than five days of work and three thermo-fusion machines to weld the destroyed section of the conductor, the tasks cannot be completed due to technical failures.

The Castro press took advantage of the incident to carry out a bit of propaganda, emphasizing that figures such as the first secretary of the Communist Party (PCC) in the province, Osnay Miguel Colina, arrived at the place during the early hours of Thursday, May 2 to “supervise” the repairs.

However, the operations have not gone as planned, since the three thermo-fusion machines that were sent to the area from other provinces suffered engine failures and have not been able to start welding.

On social media, several residents of Santa Clara have begun to make it clear that the lack of water is wreaking havoc on their daily lives, which is why they have criticized the time it has taken to repair this problem.

“Something is being done inappropriately when they have broken three merging machines and there were only 3 ties,” one of these people commented in the state broadcaster’s publication.

According to Lisardo González, engineer delegate of Hydraulic Resources in the center of the Island, work is being done in the workshops to fix the three damaged machines, so that they can be moved back to the place of damage.

For now, thousands of citizens continue to wait for water service to be restored in the middle of one of the hottest seasons of the year.
