The athlete Angélica Espinoza became two-time champion of the Parapan American Games, by winning the -47 kg women’s K44 division of Parataekwondo in Santiago 2023. In this way, she gave our country the second gold medal in the competition.

The member of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) and the Heading to Santiago 2023 Program of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), beat the Mexican Claudia Romero in the final, by a resounding 10 to 4.

“I am renewing my Parapan American title. It is my second medal in the Games, I am very calm after having fought and grateful to everyone who has been supporting me. I dedicate it to everyone who has been part of the process, to my team and my family. I had already faced Claudia Romero several times in Grand Prix, World Championships and she is always a tough rival,” Espinoza said after her victory.

The next step for the para-athlete will be to go for a place in Paris 2024. “Now I am looking for my qualification for the Paralympic Games, in December I am going to a Grand Prix in Manchester to confirm my direct place,” our two-time champion concluded excitedly.
