FC Baden is looking for staff at various levels: “We have an important vacancy on the board”
Big challenges await FC Baden: In addition to the relegation, the club also has to fill various positions. Including a person looking for money.
The relegation of FC Baden from the Challenge League is already certain, as is the departure of Heinz Gassmann. His loss hurts not only because the club is losing its driving force at the top, but also because the 72-year-old was responsible for marketing on the board. Although the general meeting is not due until August, president-designate Gianmarco Coluccia is already taking over Gassmann’s duties.
Baden Vice President Gianmarco Coluccia (in the red shirt) is currently being challenged in all directions.
Gassmann is not only responsible for marketing, but also for the sporting affairs of the first team. They need a new coach, many players will leave the club. “So it’s good that we already have clarity a few rounds before the end of the competition in which we will play next season,” said Coluccia. That will give them some time. Together with Gassmann and adviser Stephan Keller, he currently looking for a replacement for coach Michael Winsauer and is clarifying which players will stay.
A good network of relationships will help
But it’s not just the sporting activities that are a challenge for Coluccia. “The departure of Heinz creates a large vacancy on the board,” affirms the 31-year-old. The association is looking for another board member. “We would prefer someone who takes care of marketing like Gassmann,” explained Coluccia. Someone who is rooted in the area and in the city, has a network of connections and is committed to the club.
The departing Heinz Gassmann leaves a void at FC Baden, and not just as president.
At least Coluccia is sure that one of the big sponsors will stay on board. Regionalwerke AG Baden is also in the Promotion League. “FC Baden fits us,” says Gilles Tornare, Head of Marketing: “Energy for an energetic club. ” For them it is almost a matter of the heart.
FC Baden relies on such friends of the club. “Because money is important, even very important, in terms of sport,” emphasizes Thomas “Chäppu” Käppeli. On Saturday he was a guest at Esp with FC Thun, as president of the “Club of Friends of FC Thun”. Käppeli founded this club within the club four years ago. “We are a supporters association and we raise between 400,000 and 500,000 francs per season,” says Käppeli.
Käppeli spent his childhood in Aargau, in Merenschwand. After the family moved to the Bernese Oberland, he found a heart for FC Thun. “When I was eight years old, I collected Zweifränkler in a cut-up leather ball,” he recalls. He has been there for 53 years now, he was a fan representative and head of security. For health reasons, he gave up these positions and founded the society of friends.
A club with passion
“I like coming to Baden, you work here with so much enthusiasm,” he said to the VIP aperitif, which he enjoyed with his wife Alexandra. He likes these rolls, much more than the VIP areas with the white covered tables at the big clubs. “I’d rather come to Baden once than to go to YB three times,” he said.
Things are similar in Thun. “We have white covered tables, but our president Andres Gerber greets every guest with a handshake before every game,” says Käppeli. He knows the importance of such moves. “I like it,” he says as he hopes FC Baden can fill Gassmann’s vacancy soon.
