Miracle of Resurrection – myrrh flowed from a 160-year-old icon in the Strandja village of Brodilovo.
The church “St. Panteleimon” was built more than a century ago and is a cultural monument. It houses the largest collection of Nestinar icons in Strandzha.
“When we went with the icons of the ayazmo, we found that the oldest ayazmo was filled, and there was no water there for almost 20 years. After the feast, the icon began to flow myrrh. Small drops appeared, but on Good Friday there were many,” explained Georgi Iliev, a member of the church board of the church “St. Panteleimon”.
“It sharpens around the heart of Saint Panteleimon. It also runs on clothes. People who came to the church tried to somehow get hold of the ointment it gives. The tracks still stand. The message is good. We interpret it to mean that the saint is pleased with what we have done for him. We restored the old Nestinar iconostasis. The icons are in good condition. We open the church regularly. Everything is interpreted as positive. May it bring health and healing to all believers,” he added.
Priests say that when an icon flows from myrrh it can mean that either the saint is crying for us or he is sending a cure.
Since Saint Panteleimon is a healer, it can be assumed that with his power he wants to heal us not only physically, but also spiritually.
