Ipswich Town is back in the Premier League after 22 years. The club defeated Huddersfield Town (2-0) in front of its own crowd on Saturday afternoon and thus secured a second final classification in the Championship, the second level of England.
Wes Burns and Omari Hutchinson scored the goals for Ipswich Town, which won the UEFA Cup in 1981 by beating AZ over two matches (5-4) with Frans Thijssen and Arnold Mühren in the ranks.
Leicester City secured the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League on Monday. Huddersfield Town was relegated after the defeat against Ipswich Town.
Goal scoring machine
Ipswich’s promotion is largely due to the team’s impressive goal production. No club has scored as many times in the Championship this season as ‘The Tractor Boys’, who have 91 goals.
This means that Ipswich is promoted for the second season in a row: a year ago the club was still active in the third English level.
