Education in ethnomusicology Asnate Rancane received at Jāzeps Vītolas Latvian Academy of Music. She has also learned the violin, kokle, and the stabula game. Music has been present in Asnate’s life since childhood, she grew up in a family of folklorists. However, in her childhood and youth, Asnate was very much involved in sports – athletics – and thought to connect with her future.

However, as a teenager, Asnate’s life path began to move deeper into the world of music – to the Riga Dome Choir School, where Asnate’s first conscious steps in music began. This was followed by studies at the Music Academy.

During her career, Asnate has worked in several groups and forms – the folklore group “Grodi”, the self-created folklore studio “Garataka” and the ethnic group “Tautumeitas”, which has won recognition not only in Latvia, but also in other places. parts of the world – even in Japan and Australia. Together with Stanislava Yudina, she also created a duet and released the album “Op. 2”, as well as collaborating and creating songs with “Prāta vētru”.
