Carlos Alcaraz defeated the german Jan-Lennard Struff by 6-3, 6-7 (5) and 7-6 (4) and qualified for the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters 1,000, where he is seeking his third consecutive title.
The champion and the 2023 finalist met again a year after the Spaniard won the title match (6-4, 3-6 and 6-3) and Alcaraz, second seed, repeated his victory in three sets, but with two tiebreakers, after two hours and 52 minutes.
His rival in the quarterfinals will be the Russian Andrey Rublevseventh favorite, who beat the Dutchman in the round of 16 Tallon Greek track by 6-2 and 6-4. EFE (I)
