Sixteen people were injured in a traffic accident involving a minibus of the Brussels Capital/Ixelles police on Saturday afternoon. This was reported by police spokesperson Ilse Van de Keerse. Fourteen people were slightly injured, two people seriously injured. Their lives would not be in danger.
“The accident took place around 1:28 p.m. at the intersection of Square Jules de Trooz and Koninginnelaan,” the police spokesperson said. “A minibus from our police zone that was driving on Koniginnelaan in the direction of Laeken and a Peugeot that was driving from Werkhuizenkaai in the direction of the center collided. A total of fourteen occupants of the minibus were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The two occupants of the car were seriously injured and taken to hospital. Their lives would not be in danger.”
The fourteen passengers in the police van were aspiring inspectors. They were touring the various services of the police zone in the capital as part of an “introduction day”.
The Brussels North police zone (Schaerbeek/Evere/Sint-Joost-ten-Noode) is on site to conduct the investigation, as is the victim assistance service of the Brussels Capital/Ixelles police.
