/ world today news/ On the Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literature, we celebrate the greatest cultural achievement of our people – the creation of our own writing. This was stated by the head of state to journalists after, together with Vice President Iliana Yotova and representatives of the caretaker government, they laid flowers in front of the monument of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius in front of the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”.
Rumen Radev recalled that more than 1,100 years ago, it was Bulgaria that saved the cause of the Slavic first teachers. “What was started by Cyril and Methodius was continued by Kliment Ohridski and Naum Preslavski, who with their students and thousands of followers made Bulgaria become the spiritual and cultural center of the Slavic world during the Middle Ages,” noted the head of state.
“That’s why today let’s pay tribute to all artists, writers, people of the word, who over the centuries created the Bulgarian state of the spirit. From her today and in the future, we will continue to draw strength for our spiritual revival,” said President Radev.
The head of state congratulated all the teachers, writers, people of knowledge who today continue to strengthen the Bulgarian spirit and dispel the darkness of substitution. “The state of the spirit has never died in Bulgaria and it is up to all of us to pass it on to the next generations,” emphasized Rumen Radev.
