Intrigue over the mysterious death of a Romanian competitor from the Havana Club Cocktail Maestros in Cuba – 2024-05-04 16:16:02

A Romanian woman who traveled to Cuba to participate in the Havana Club Cocktail Maestros contest was found dead on the island after having extended her trip, and the mysterious circumstances of her death have raised many questions from her loved ones.

This is the bartender Alexandra Constantinescu, who was found dead in a hotel days after the aforementioned contest ended.

The website Drinks International echoed this news, pointing out that “Lexie,” as the woman was known, was supposed to leave Cuba on April 18, the final day of the contest, but she extended her stay and was found dead on April 20.

The Lyaness bar in London, where Constantinescu worked, spoke out, stating that there is no way to process such sad news.

“We are all heartbroken by the sad news about Lexie. It is so hard to calculate when you have been trying with so much vitality, warmth and emotion to find out that you will not be able to share that again.”

Shreya Basu, the Romanian’s teammate and colleague, also dedicated some farewell words to her on social media, pointing out that they always brought out the best in each other, and that she chose to remember her smiling, as she always did.

“Thank you for always bringing out the best in everyone. You were always the brightest smile in the room, with the loudest laugh and the reddest hair, never hard to notice. As I return to work in the four walls we called home, I will think of you and how you had the ability to brighten anyone’s day with the smallest conversation.”

For their part, family and friends of the bartender They started a fundraising campaign to transport the Romanian woman’s body back home.

“Lexie’s unexpected passing has left us all shocked, and now we face the challenge of bringing her home from Cuba to rest. Any contribution she can make will be of great help to her family in managing this unexpected burden,” the site reads that she has managed to raise more than 10,000 euros for the cause.

The situation has also generated commotion among the woman’s colleagues, who have criticized the lack of transparency on the part of the Cuban authorities.

Bartender Pedro Montero, who was a colleague of Constantinescu, revealed that the body was found during the morning of Saturday, April 20, but that the fact was not notified by the authorities until three days later.

Montero also emphasizes that the authorities have not bothered to clarify the cause of death, and that they have not given more details about it.

“It wasn’t until three days later that we received news through the embassy that he had died, without any explanation as to how or why it had happened,” he added.

The bartender used his social networks to demand an explanation that sheds some light on the circumstances of his death.

“The lack of information has only aggravated our pain and confusion, and we hope to be able to close the case soon,” Montero concluded, recalling that more than a week has passed without the details about the bartender’s death being revealed.
