Monterrey, Bravos and Xolos, inhibited by FIFA from incorporating players

The ban on registering players is part of the disciplinary measures that FIFA’s legal bodies have the power to impose on clubs. The last list includes three Mexican soccer entities – Bravos de Juárez, Tijuana and Monterrey – that will not be able to hire any element, neither nationally nor internationally, during the period of validity of the measure, which covers three windows. of transfers.

Bravos and Xolos have faced financial debts since past operations. In October 2023, former midfielder Jesús Dueñas filed a complaint against FC Juárez for falsification of the duration of his contract, which went from 3 to 1 year. Since he was not satisfied with the amount of his compensation, the case reached the CAS and led to the offices of the highest body of this sport.

In this regard, the institution assured yesterday in a statement that “the debt was paid on time and there is no legal impediment to making international transfers in upcoming tournaments,” despite the fact that the FIFA platform indicates otherwise.

Tijuana, managed by Grupo Caliente, was sanctioned on April 16 for carrying a debt with Audax Italiano, a first division team in Chile, related to the transfer of forward Joaquín Montecinos in 2022, according to sources consulted.

In the case of Monterrey, which was eliminated by the Columbus Crew on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup, the refusal to register players was established on April 26. Given this, a spokesperson for the Monterrey team stated that the situation has been resolved with FIFA and in the coming days “this will be reflected on the official website.”

FIFA specifies in its guidelines that the sanctioned entities may re-register new players, “when the punishment has been fully complied with or the organization’s administration lifts it.”
